Using only 10 colored pencils, discover how to enhance facial

detail even the photograph doesn't provide. Emphasis is on learning to construct an image with dimension and strength while playing with creativity.

Subject will be a close-up, partial female face. Colored pencil can certainly render impressive detail and delicate information within the facial features.

But special attention will also be given to the areas that surround the facial features, often overlooked in the attempts for realism.

Some background space next to the portrait will be used for the student's own personal color and textural expression. This is where anything goes!

Students will be given a prepared under-drawing on art paper in which to construct their image, a reference photo, and both step-by-step visual and written instructions. Demos will be provided several times throughout the workshop, along with individual instruction for additional guidance.
